Research
Start by doing a little research. Your chances of finding a home with a modeling agency are much greater when you fit the style and look that aligns with the agency. Keep in mind, in addition to them wanting to work with you, you also need to want to work with them. Do the models wear clothes that you like? Does the agency specialize in print or digital? Think about what you are looking for, so when you do submit pictures to modeling agencies, you’ll be sure that it’s a good fit for both you and your little one.
Once you have found an agency that feels like a good match, look through the agency’s recent work or their Instagram profile. If you see someone who looks just like your child, the chances are that it will be much more difficult for your little one to be selected. If an agency already has a model with their look, in most cases, they will want to honor their existing models by not creating competition for similar jobs within the agency.
How to Submit
Ready to submit? Great! Be sure to find the right directions for your submission. If the agency requests you submit via email, do it via email. If the agency requests that you fill out a form, use the form. You will not gain an advantage by sending your submission via an email you found elsewhere as it can get confusing for agents and make things more difficult for them to organize their messages. Tips for Model Submission Photos
As you can see in the graphic above, a phone will suffice for taking pictures. You don't need a fancy camera but you are welcome to use one if it's on hand! What you do need to focus on is making sure that the images you take are clear and have good quality. Great pictures are instrumental in the decision-making process. Be sure to take full body shots from the front and back, as well as closeup and profile shots from each side.
As children are constantly growing and changing, it is especially important to include all requested information and make sure their sizes, age and photos are as accurate as possible. The images must be an accurate representation of the model, that means no heavy makeup and no photo editing.
When you submit pictures to modeling agencies, don’t forget to capture a bit of personality too! Photos do not need to be stone faced and serious. So, have fun with it! There is beauty in each child’s personality that helps them book jobs. Show us, we want to see your child shine!
